Science
Science is a mandatory Key Learning Area for all students from Year 7 to Year 10 in New South Wales. The study of Science provides students with the opportunity to explore the natural and made worlds, applying scientific knowledge, skills, and understanding across a range of contexts. It is a dynamic subject that encourages critical and creative thinking to investigate the world around us and address real-world problems.
Throughout Years 7–10, students engage in scientific inquiry, developing skills in investigating, analysing, and solving problems. The curriculum focuses on building a deep understanding of key scientific concepts across the traditional disciplines of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Earth and Environmental Science. This approach helps students develop an appreciation for the role of science in everyday life and its importance in shaping the world we live in.
