Faculty aims:

  • The English and drama courses at Dunheved strive to create confident communicators, imaginative thinkers and informed citizens. The English courses have been developed within the guidelines of the 7-10 NSW English Curriculum. 
  • In English, students learn to analyse, understand, communicate and build relationships with others and with the world around them. The English programs play a key role in the development of reading and literacy skills, which help our students, develop the knowledge and skills needed for education, training and the workplace. It helps them become ethical, thoughtful, informed and active members of society.
  • The English faculty is committed to maximise the learning outcomes for all students in a safe and stimulating environment driven by a deep belief that every student is capable of successful learning.

Faculty achievements:

Successfully participated in Premier's Debating, Debating Enrichment Day, Chifley College Debating Shield, Public Speaking and excursions in previous years and the same is being continued. Research based teaching strategies like explicit teaching practices, Super 6 strategies, Seven Steps to Writing Success, differentiation and regular feedbacks are being implemented to assist students to excel in their learning.
